Cloud, DevOps & Infrastructure
Infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, containerisation and monitoring you can operate yourself.
What this is
The goal is boring deployments: a pipeline anyone on the team can run, infrastructure defined in code and reviewed like code, and monitoring that tells you about a problem before a customer does. We build it in your cloud account, with your access controls, and hand over the runbooks.
When teams call us about this
If more than one of these is familiar, there is usually a case worth scoping.
- Deployment is a manual checklist only one person can execute.
- Staging and production have drifted and nobody is sure how they differ.
- The cloud bill grows and nobody can attribute the increase.
- An outage is discovered from customer complaints rather than monitoring.
- There is no tested restore, only backups that are assumed to work.
What this covers
Each item below is part of this service line. Where an offering needs a specialist partner, it is marked as such rather than implied.
-
Cloud application development
Applications built for managed cloud services rather than lifted onto a virtual machine.
-
Cloud migration and modernisation
Staged migration from on-premise or legacy hosting with rollback at each step.
-
DevOps and CI/CD automation
Pipelines covering test, build, deploy and rollback, triggered from your repository.
-
Docker and containerisation
Reproducible images and local environments matching production.
-
Kubernetes and infrastructure automation
Orchestration where scale or workload variety justifies the operational cost.
-
Cloud monitoring and optimisation
Observability, alerting, autoscaling and cost reduction on existing infrastructure.
What you receive
Artefacts that end up in your repositories and your cloud account, not locked inside our team.
- Infrastructure defined as code and version controlled
- CI/CD pipeline with automated tests, staged deployment and rollback
- Containerised services with reproducible builds
- Environment parity between staging and production
- Monitoring, logging, alerting and uptime checks with defined owners
- Backup strategy with a restore actually tested, not assumed
- Cost visibility, tagging and right-sizing recommendations
- Runbooks for deployment, incident response and recovery
Typical engagements
The shapes of work we are asked for most often in this area.
Manual deploys to pipeline
Replaces a checklist with an automated, repeatable, reversible release.
Cloud migration
Moves a legacy-hosted application to managed services in stages.
Cost reduction
Attributes spend, right-sizes resources and removes what nothing uses.
Reliability work
Adds monitoring, alerting and tested recovery to a system running without them.
How we run it
Assessment
Current infrastructure, deployment process, costs, risks and recovery readiness.
Plan
Target architecture, migration sequence and rollback plan per stage.
Implement
Infrastructure as code, pipelines and containerisation, applied incrementally.
Observability
Monitoring, logs, alerts and dashboards with named owners per alert.
Verify
Load testing, failover and restore rehearsal before sign-off.
Handover
Runbooks, training and optional ongoing support.

Including the questions where the honest answer is "it depends", and what it depends on.
Do we need Kubernetes?
Usually not. It earns its operational cost at real scale or with many varied workloads. For a handful of services, managed container platforms are cheaper to run and easier for a small team. We will say which applies to you.
Which cloud provider?
Whichever you already use or have commitments with, in most cases. Where it is genuinely open we compare on your workload, managed service fit and cost.
Can you work in our cloud account?
Yes, and we prefer it. We deploy into your account under your access controls, so there is no dependency on infrastructure we hold.
Can you reduce our cloud costs?
Often, through right-sizing, removing unused resources, storage tiering and reserved capacity. We measure and report the saving rather than estimating it.
